กำเนิดของบ้านกาหลง
ได้ยินมาว่าสมัยหนึ่งในคลองบ้านบ่อนี้ พื้นที่เต็มไปด้วยป่าไม้ตะบูน และไม้เบญจพรรณ บ้านกาหลงนี้ก็เป็นป่าไม้ฟืนดังกล่าว มีครอบครัวหนึ่ง มีนิวาสสถานอยู่บริเวณริมคลอง มีสองผัวเมียมีอาชีพในทางตัดฟืนขาย วันหนึ่งสองผัวเมียนำเรือไปตัดฟืนตอนเช้าตามปกติถึงชายคลองไม่ไกลจากบ้าน ได้ยินเสียงกาซึ่งเกาะอยู่ที่ต้นไม้เตี้ยๆ ริมตลิ่งตัวหนึ่งร้องกาๆ แล้วก็บินไปบินมาวนเวียนเกาะจากไม้ต้นนี้แล้วก็โผไปไม้ต้นโน้น สองผัวเมียก็พายเรือเพื่อเข้าไปดู พลันได้ยินเสียงเด็กร้องจ้าขึ้น สองผัวเมียก็สะดุ้งจึงเข้าไปดูพบทารกเพิ่งเกิด เป็นหญิงกำลังดิ้นและร้องตามประสาเด็ก ห่อผ้าวางทิ้งไว้ในกอหญ้า จึงเข้าไปอุ้มเด็กนำมาลงเรือ เมื่อเอาเด็กมาแล้วกาก็บินไป สองผัวเมียได้เที่ยวถามผู้คนที่อยู่แถบคลองนั้นก็ไม่รู้ว่าเป็นลูกใคร จึงได้เลี้ยงดูอย่างดี เหมือนบุตรตัวเอง สองผัวเมียให้ชื่อว่า กาหลง ตามเหตุการณ์ที่ประสบมาผิวดำอย่างกา และมี กา มาเฝ้าคอยคุมอยู่ ส่วน หลง ก็หมายถึงเด็กนี้พลัดพ่อพลัดแม่ เด็กหญิงเมื่อโตขึ้นก็ช่วยพ่อแม่ทำมาหากินเป็นหัวเรี่ยวหัวแรงจนกระทั่งสาว แม้ตัวจะดำก็มีใจบริสุทธิ์ ในหมู่บ้านมีครอบครัวหนึ่ง มีสภาพพอมีพอกินทัดเทียมกับครอบครัวเด็กหญิงกาหลง เป็นคนมีอาชีพทางตัดฟืน และเป็นคนประพฤติดีเรียบร้อย ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้สมรสเป็นสามีภรรยากันมีอาชีพตัดฟืนขาย และเก็บหอมรอมริบจนตั้งตัวร่ำรวยขึ้น เมื่อพ่อแม่ของทั้งสองฝ่าย ล่วงลับไปแล้ว นางกาหลงกับสามี ก็บำเพ็ญกุศลและชวนพวกชาวบ้านใกล้เรือนเคียงสร้างสำนักสงฆ์ขึ้นใช้ที่ดินที่เป็นบ้านของพ่อแม่ นั้นสร้างสำนักสงฆ์ขึ้นด้วยความกตัญญู เรียกว่า วัดกาหลง แต่นั้นมา ต่อมาวัดกาหลงก็มีผู้ศรัทธาทำนุบำรุงจนเป็นหลักฐาน มั่นคงในพระพุทธศาสนาตราบจนทุกวันนี้
The Origin of Ban Ka Long
It is said that in the past, the area of Khlong Ban Bo was filled with mangrove forests and mixed deciduous trees. Ban Ka Long was also part of this forest. There was a family living by the canal: a husband and wife who earned a living by cutting firewood. One morning, they took their boat to cut wood near the canal bank not far from their home. They heard the sound of a crow perched on a small tree by the bank, cawing and flying around from one tree to another. The couple paddled over to investigate and suddenly heard a baby crying. Startled, they went closer and found a newborn baby girl wrapped in cloth and left in a patch of grass. They picked her up and brought her onto their boat. Once they took the baby, the crow flew away. The couple asked around the canal area, but no one knew whose child she was. So, they raised her well as if she were their own daughter. They named her "Ka Long" based on the events they experienced: "Ka" (Crow) because she had dark skin like a crow and a crow had stayed to watch over her, and "Long" (Lost) because she was a child separated from her parents.
As she grew up, Ka Long helped her parents earn a living and became their main support. Despite her dark skin, she had a pure heart. In the village, there was another family of similar modest means who also earned a living by cutting firewood. The son of that family was a well-behaved man. Eventually, the two were married, continued their firewood business, and saved money until they became wealthy. After the parents of both sides passed away, Nang Ka Long and her husband performed meritorious deeds and invited neighbours to build a monastic residence (Samnak Song) on the land that belonged to her parents. They built it out of gratitude and named it "Wat Ka Long". Since then, Wat Ka Long has gained many faithful followers who have supported and maintained it, making it a stable pillar of Buddhism to this day.
ความเป็นมาขององค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลกาหลง
ตามมาตรา 40 และ มาตรา 41 แห่งพระราชบัญญัติสภาตำบลและองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบล พ.ศ. 2537 บัญญัติให้จัดตั้งองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบล และให้โอนบรรดางบประมาณทรัพย์สิน สิทธิ สิทธิเรียกร้อง หนี้ และเจ้าหน้าที่ของสภาตำบลไปเป็นขององค์การบริหารส่วนตำบล รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงมหาดไทยจึงให้สภาตำบลกาหลงจัดตั้งเป็นองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลกาหลง ตามประกาศกระทรวงมหาดไทย ลงวันที่ 16 เดือน ธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2539 และต่อมาองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลกาหลง ได้ยกฐานะเป็นองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลขนาดใหญ่เมื่อวันที่ 24 เดือน กรกฎาคม พ.ศ.2554 ตามประกาศองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลกาหลง ลงวันที่ 24 สิงหาคม 2554
